HR APP: Streamlining HR Operations for Internal Efficiency
Overview
Currently the IT organization are depended on a lot of contract employees. Depending on the duration of the projects and the employee retention being low there is a constant need of new employees. The HR Mobile app was created to help them managing the recruitment process and communication between the partners. The primary goal of the app was to reduce the Turn around time of the whole process and managing the employees currently in the team

Problem Statement
The current process is the company manager calls up/emails the partner requesting for candidates. the partner then sends in some candidates for interviews. The candidates are selected/rejected. Sometimes the candidates need to be transferred across the company.
The problem was the TAT from requesting candidate to joining. Once a candidate is selected, there are other approvals that are required. The manager/partner would need to keep the track of status over calls. The internal team wanted an app that could help them resolve all these problems that they were facing

Research
Since this was an in-house app, we knew our target audience and they were our internal stakeholders. I sometimes would conduct some initial rounds of interviews so knew the pain points of the process were.

User interviews
Since I knew the users of the app, I focused more on the user interviews and decided not to create personas. Since the internal stake holders were going to use the application was well aware of the target audience.
Some questions that were asked during the interview were

What are the flaws you find it in the current system we follow?
How much time does it take for your candidate request to fulfill?
Do you need to constantly communicate with the partners?
How do you monitor your internal teams work?
How many times do you reschedule the interviews?

I started with pen and paper in my notebook so as to understand the flow of the application. Then moved on to creating low fidelity mock-ups.
Hi fidelity Mockup

I looked out for some inspirations for designs on dribble and interactions to make it more appealing. The users suggested to add in some fresh colors since they were bored with the current brand theme that we had.
The prototype was shared with the Stakeholders. This was an iterative step the design variation was improved.
Created two versions of the homepage for A/B testing. Shared the set between the groups during lunch. Discussed the structure and feature in one design compared to another.
Conclusion

The project is under development and will be launched soon. We currently are going to release it as an MVP with limited set of features. We have pipelined a set of features that will go in iterations.
User interview helped me a lot in understanding the customer needs. I got a lot of data that I can use as personas in my other projects too. This would help me in saving time with the data I have received. The A/B testing also helped me understanding the mental model of the users. We did not work on the Information architecture much.
