INITIAL SKETCHES
I started by trying to see how I could execute the feel of a character across a range of materials and play styles since the base kit for Super Chewers Box has many "tailor buckets" based off various dogs needs and play styles. In the end I landed on a a hardcore Tug option shown on the below images upper right as well as a nylon on nylon over molded version seen on the upper left.
INITIAL CAD + 3D PRINTS
After many rounds of iterations for both the fabric and tug outer as well as the natural rubber "dark meat" core. we finally landed in a solid place both visually as well as from a safety stand point. The reason for so many rounds on this particular item and box as a whole was this was our first round of toys merging both the "Classic Bark Box" aesthetic with our own "Super Chewer" look and feel. It was a lot of trial and error and figuring out the correct balance on the fly.
FINAL DETAILS / PRE PRO SAMPLES
Because this is going to be one of the hero characters / toys of the NOV'23 box it both had to have a great aesthetic while being a top performing toy in functionality and durability. So a lot of time and effort went into checking every detail before moving on to the final phase (production).
