DICTIONARY OF GRAPHIC DESIGN
is a visual essay response to "FUCK CONTENT“ by Micheal Rock. The idea is based on a quote in the article: "A movie is not what it is about, it’s how it is about it.” Likewise, for us, our What is a How. Our content is, perpetually, Design itself.", which suggests that design does not always relies on content, and is just a depiction of content. How design presents itself create the meaning, it is not just a tool to illustrate the content. This graphic design dictionary is like a visual guidebook exploring how the basic building blocks of design—things like lines, shapes, colors, and more—work together to create meaning. It's kind of like a picture-based dictionary that shows how these elements and design principles, shape the way we see and understand things. Each entry isn't just a definition; in contrast with a traditional dictionary, it's a cool, colorful journey showing how these pieces fit together to make awesome designs. Under the form of a dictionary, it suggests that elements of design can be used to create varied possibilities, they can go beyond the definition of themselves, and the meaning that thay can create are unlimited, just like the number of words within a dictionary and how new words are created each day.
