MY LAND OF COTTON

Considering the importance of history, environmental and sustainable practices, took steps to revive the relevance of handloom practices for these local crafts and places' social, cultural and heritage.

Evolved from personal family connection, drawing inspiration from Indian weaving practices to inform making approach and researching, experimenting and exploring with the two local materials, clay and cotton. This was directly connected to the change in cotton from indigenous varieties to genetically modified cotton.

Can Cotton and clay evolve as materials together?

Experimented with indigenous knowledge about the two most primitive materials clay and cotton, and their interrelation and evolution over time in a cultural context. Their applications and the story they can convey together through weaves.

Alchemy with Nature
