Large-scale natural disasters have affected the lives of millions of families and are predicted to strike more often in the future. This thesis project proposes a collapsible shelter structure that will co-exist inside the Park Slope YMCA gym. During an emergency, the structure can be set up quickly to host the evacuees temporarily. The interior provides various degrees of privacy in order to diminish conflicts between the occupants and offers a sense of safety.
