The IBM Tower was redesigned in 1978 by Mario Roberto Álvarez.
It was inaugurated in 1983 to house the company's headquarters in Argentina and was the newest building in the Catalinas Norte complex until the construction of the Catalinas Plaza and Alem Plaza towers in 1995.
