Wine Label

About the project
ETIVERA European Label Award is an Austrian design competition. In this year the participants had to create a wine label for this specific bottle of wine but without any concrete rules about the product or the vinery.
The Concept
My crest-like wine label represents a winery with traditional values and a long history in winemaking.
On the other hand the elegant lines and the typography gives the label a modern look. The main visual element is based on the connection between the grape hills and the ripple of the wine. The two patterns show the journey of the wine from the earth into the glass. This transition is written in the slogan: “From our roots to your soul.”
The Process
My idea was to somehow show the journey of the vine from the earth into a glass of wine. I made some sketches and realised the grape hills and the wine have the same wavy lines. I developed this element into two patterns. I used the visual element of the wave to create the outline of the label. The rounded bottom reminds the consumer of the wine glass. The crest-like shape and the use of hot foil stamping turns the wine into a luxurious gift rather than an everyday drink.
I made three versions of the final label. The original was the white wine, I created one for a rose wine and one for a smaller bottled spirit.
My design got shortlisted in the competition.
