I was inspired by the painting on the left by Frederic Leighton. It led me to research the myths of Persephone and her associated symbols, which resulted in this piece. I wanted to add more emotional complexity by implying that Persephone may desire to go to the Underworld.
I did schema therapy for a few years, and I wanted to create a visual product of the concepts I had learnt throughout, with the goal to gift it to my therapist. On the left is some brainstorming I did for how I can best represent the ideas. On the right is experimentation I did with binding a small book.
The final comic book. Created using color pencils to give it a children's book aesthetic.
Experimentation with different mediums
Color pencils, watercolor, and acrylics (2023-2024)
I got the opportunity to create a poster for my school's annual play. It centers around reconnecting with nature and the people around you.

I was inspired by the vibrancy and simplicity of the pieces shown on the left. Although the perspective is off in the final piece, I focused on making it conventional and and cutesy, to attract people's attention. I was quite happy with the colors used and contrast.
I wanted to make a book cover redesign for "The Buddha in the Attic" by Julie Otsuka. The urge to redesign the existing covers (two images on the left) was due the fact that I felt the themes and content of the book weren't adequately represented.
My cover strives to create more intrigue and allude to the struggles of the Japanese minority that the book brings representation to.
Assorted sketchbook pages (2024).
I was heavily inspired by the piece, "Overdosed mom". I loved the bold colors and the flatness of the piece. It also made me want to explore how substance abuse has affected the people around me. I talked genuinely with a few of my friends, and the final piece is a representation of how it feels to not be "fully there", and to constantly be in the presence of bad influences.
