Samba Brazil meets Cologne

AMAGO is definitely the only band that combines Latin American hits with Cologne dialect and interprets Cologne classics in Latin style. Plus a big pinch of Cologne carnival and traditions! It was a pleasure for me to realize in order of TINSELTOWN MUSIC PRODUCTIONS the concept, artwork & grafik design for the release of the new CD. Including character design, illustrations for the multipage booklet and animations for social media and an additional musicvideo.

P.S. For the Character Design and corresponding Music video please check my other portfolios - comimg soon! -> CD on Spotify / -> AMAGO on Youtube ( incl. musicvideo)

The Digipac
The concept for the design of the Digipac reflects the main contents: Carnival in Cologne & Brazil, 5 musicians & their instruments, Latin music - rhythm instruments as supporting characters. Reference to Cologne (Cologne Cathedral) and Cologne tradition - the dancing beer wreath on the CD-Rom. This is also reflected in the booklet - rounded off with illustrations of the Cologne lyrics. And the people of Cologne are crazy - especially during carnival. This special kind of craziness runs through the entire design. As one Cologne woman put it: Triadic Ballet 2003 :-)

Making-of the character design of M. Romm – Cellist and Vocalist of the band AMAGO. To be used for CD Digipac and the according musicvideo. My character designs have their roots in the musicians' favourite objects, patterns and colours, which I requested in advance. I also interviewed each of them extensively. Of course, their respective musical roles also influenced the character design. Check my upcoming project case for more insights.
Happy dancetogether: typical instruments for Samba Music : APITO , the little samba flute. Rocar - bell rod. Melodyman ( melodica) &  beerangel.
Bierkranz – "Beer ring", keg to serve the typical cologne beer in topview.

Nothing works without a beer wreath! The people of Cologne drink vast quantities of Kölsch, the name of Cologne beer, at carnival (and elsewhen). It is brewed in several breweries. In the pub it is brought to the tables of thirsty Cologne locals in a beer wreath by the so-called "Köbes". Cheers!

Artwork design concept: Combining 3D models with 2D photos. Here a photo – I made myself on spot at the Odonium, a popular Cologne location.  Setting up a scen ein blender with my 3D character in front of the photo. Adding light, besides I use the Odonium photo as Environment HDRI light. Evee viewport render in high print resolution. Compositing in Photoshop. Replace the sky, Camera raw filters. Finally Grafic design – adding the song lyrics and credits – in In-Design. Voila!
P.S: My 3D model quotes Ben G., the band's manager, who particularly loves his espresso machine.
THANK YOU!
