natural wonders poster set
For this project, I was tasked with creating a series of posters for three natural wonders of the world. The main purpose behind this assignment was to practice creating posters that were readable and legible, while also becoming familiar with InDesign. Each work needed to have perfect leading, tracking, and hierarchy while also looking consistent and cohesive.
I began by starting on one poster: the Grand Canyon. Because I was required to do a series of posters, I needed to create a layout that was both aesthetically pleasing and versatile. I knew that I wanted a focus on the image, which is reflected in most of my sketches. Because I am not familiar with InDesign, once I chose a layout, I built a very rough draft on Illustrator to test how it would come across in a digital format.
After critique, I was told to increase the leading of the body copy. Additionally, I needed to increase the contrast of the subheaders because there were issues with how bright they printed.
Throughout this project, I was learning and adapting as I designed. Because I had never used InDesign before, I found myself having to pause to watch tutorials or research how to use the tools in an effective way. Because there were three posters in the series, I felt that it allowed me to have ample practice and gave me an opportunity to become more comfortable with this program.
