ARTISTBOOK "KATA"
The juxtaposition and the shape of the square (the shape of the ring) are the main pillars of this work. In addition, the idea of the constant and perpetual alternation between the personal and the collective, between one part versus the two parts clashing runs throughout this artistbook (both in external and internal structure, as well as in the content).
The two rectangular parallelograms symbolize the two opposing parties and when joined together they form a square resembling the shape of the ring. To emphasize the element of confrontation, which is inherent in boxing, and at the same time create a sense of conflict, magnets have been placed on the books’ spines. They require the application of a force, a basic element of the sport, so viewers can explore the interior.
The print editions are red and blue, similar to the timeless colors of Olympic boxing athletes.
