Game Development - Game Jam Entry - Mad Hacker
I, along with some friends joined a 1 week game jam and came up with this game. We managed to put together a few levels for it. The game engine we used for this project was Godot.

You can check the game out here https://3amgamedesign.itch.io/mad-hacker.

I handled the games UI, branding, and 3D elements for it, along with the art direction.
The Character was designed by a teammate and friend of mine, Shed. Meanwhile the 3D "Towers" was a modelled by me.

I determined that it would be efficient if I created this asset with 3D especially since I would need to animate it in different angles.
The concept of the game was to have the Mad "Hacker" hack the towers and make them topple like dominos. The below example was a mockup I quickly put together to get a visualization on the idea for the team.
Why is the Mad Hacker hacking the trees... I mean towers down like the lumber jack that he is?

..Cause he's mad!

Joking aside, the lore we came up with is that these towers created a fake reality projection. Tricking people into thinking that the world is nicer than it is. When it fact the quality of life was poor.
Below is a first iteration of the tower design. It was more detailed, and a bulkier design.
It didn't work when we had multiple towers around. It also wasn't tall enough to hit farther towers.
Version 2 of the tower was a lot taller. I also made it glow to showcase the technology it had, which was to project illusions. This was scrapped as it's painful to the eyes once you have a lot of it plotted. There was also no room for UI elements to be placed organically.
Below is the progression of the UI, level design, visualized with mockups.
Designing the environment was also tricky as I wanted to integrate details while still trying to keep it clean.
In the end I settled with 4 different tiles that were just saturated enough to have some visual appeal and not distract from the game.
UI elements I designed for the game.
