Marsha Timothy embarked on her journey in the entertainment industry as a radiant face in advertisements and even graced the music video scenes for renowned Indonesian music groups. Her foray into acting, however, truly began with her role in the 2006 film – Ekspedisi Madewa. Since then, Marsha has evolved into a versatile actress, making her mark in numerous movies and television projects.

Whether on the film screen or the theatre stage, Marsha generously pours her soul into her characters, bringing them to life with an authenticity that leaves a lasting impact. ACT I
Marsha’s career in the entertainment industry began with her role as a commercial star and as a music video model for various Indonesian bands, including ADA Band and Kerispatih. Following her debut film in 2006, Ekspedisi Madewa in 2006, another standout role came in In the Name of Love in 2008, a forbidden love story directed by Rudi Soedjarwo. Marsha had the opportunity to work alongside esteemed actors, including Vino Bastian, who later became her life’s love until today.

Fast forward a decade of success later, Marsha continues to show her multi-layered acting prowess by taking on leading roles in different genres, including in the 2017 thriller Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts, 2018’s martial arts-themed 212 Warrior, romantic comedy Toko Barang Mantan in 2020, and the more recent, highly-praised drama Noktah Merah Perkawinan in 2022.

But her love for acting doesn’t stop at films. She has also ventured into theatre, where her passion for the craft has found an enduring home. Marsha’s theatre work counterbalances her screen roles, offering her a different creative environment and challenges, “I’m deeply connected to the world of theatre. There are no reshoots or edits. You have one run, and that’s it, and I’m addicted to the rush of perfecting everything into that single performance on stage. It keeps my love for acting alive.”

Her commitment to theatre is not just about personal fulfilment – it’s also a way to contribute to the growth of the Indonesian theatre industry. While theatre has made strides, she acknowledges that it requires more exposure and support. Marsha sees the potential for theatre to engage a younger audience and hopes to see it thrive alongside the film industry.

It is easy to see why Fauré Le Page is the perfect match for Marsha. With eight looks in total and less than five hours to complete, the shoot seemed daunting on paper. However, Marsha’s effortless grace in front of the camera and excellent teamwork ensured perfect execution, “It was a very fun shoot overall. The scope of the shoot was challenging, but everyone did a good job, and I thoroughly enjoyed it,” she said. The eight featured looks included some of the best bags from Fauré Le Page‘s autumn/winter 2023 collection with a chic resort and an office-inspired look and several evening ensembles with an avant-garde edge.

ACT III
When balancing motherhood and her career, Marsha carefully plans her projects. She ensures that her work commitments align with her daughter’s schedule and needs, allowing her to be a dedicated mother while continuing her acting journey. Marsha values the time spent with family and creates cherished memories through vacations and shared experiences.
Looking ahead, Marsha remains enthusiastic about her personal and professional future endeavours. She eagerly anticipates new projects and experiences, particularly a theatre production scheduled for the end of the year and a leading role in a highly anticipated movie slated for 2024.
“The journey so far has not always been easy, but I’m glad to have been able to continually fuel my passion for acting and fully commit to constant growth and endless learning. This is the advice I would give, and it is advice I still live by today,” says Marsha. She encourages the new generation of actors and actresses to be as thirsty as possible, for she believes this is how they can achieve great things in contributing to the Indonesian film and theatre industry.
