SHOOT THIRTEEN
BLUTIT THRIFT
Plan:
BluTitThrift is a shop that sells handmade and vintage items. They design and create up cycled unique, one of a kind products, as well as branded items. Their shop is a small two store building, nevertheless they have a large range of items, suited to everyone. Their handmade clothing was very well made and refreshing as they were very creative. I like this as it shows how they appreciated pre loved clothing and want to preserve as much of it as they can buy making it into something else than may be more fashionable. They use scaffolding poles as clothing rails which I like as it shows its rustic design, they also had some decorations (disco ball), which created a nice place to browse. There was lots of iconic pieces which were displayed on hooks and mannequins.
Contact Sheets:
These are all the images that I took, I was only allowed to photograph the upstairs of the shop as the owner didn't want to her handmade, upcycled clothing photographed. Therefore I only photographed the vintage garments. There were lots of little statement pieces in the shop (disco ball, iconic telephone), this was nice and shows how they recycle old things to create a cool interior.
Working Images:
I like this image as I think the exterior of the shop is very cool and is very inviting. I decided to take it in landscape to make sure I was able to capture the whole of the shop front - I'm glad I did this.
These are some images of the clothes and mannequins, I like these as they're quite simplistic but they look effective with the shallow depth of field. I like how I constructed these shots and I think they're very successful as it's solely focused on the clothing.
These are the portraits I took, I like these images as I've got a range of angles and poses. The first one is my model trying clothes on - I wanted to take this so people can see that there are changing rooms as this can be a very important aspect for people when shopping. The middle one is nice as it captures a large part of the room through the mirror which is an interesting take. I like the over the shoulder angle. The last one is the model looking inside the shop, I wanted to do a picture of her standing outside the shop, and an angle I hadn't already done. I like this as it shows the shop as well as the model.
Sequencing:
I paired these images together as I feel he work well together, the top ones I like as I've broken up the photos of the mannequin with a different angle. I like how they're all pictures of the same area but they're all so different just because of the angle and depth of fields.
I've paired the bottom ones as again they're from different angles and I like the whole store is covered within two images.
