Completed project for the excellent writer Clare Sita Fisher. 

 

Piece was created using pencil, ink, and edited using photoshop. The original intention was to have faces peering out, as if the letters were cracks in the darkness, but (as can been seen in the 3rd image) I tried this and I just didn't think it worked so I scrapped it. 

 

On reflection, I think the letters ought to have been more raggedy on the edges to give a better impression of cracks, or breaks in the darkness.
