ConTatTiTu è un gioco interattivo che ha come scopo principale la riabilitazione e l’educazione ai comportamenti sociali nei bambini autistici. Grazie alla collaborazione con l’Istituto di Bio-robotica della Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa, abbiamo avuto la possibilità di appassionarci all’ingegneria applicata ai giochi per bambini, in specie verso quelli con particolari disturbi, patologie e difficoltà. Il nostro interesse si è concentrato sui bambini affetti da disturbo dello spettro autistico, la cui principale difficoltà è quella di entrare in relazione con le altre persone. La soluzione verso cui ci siamo orientate è la realizzazione di un gioco educativo piacevole che si basi su un sistema di interazioni che permettano al bambino di aumentare le sue capacità inter-soggettive. Siamo convinte che l’apprendimento avvenga in modo più semplice ed efficace attraverso il gioco: chiunque di fronte a qualcosa che stimola la sua curiosità e cattura la sua attenzione è invogliato ad entrarci in relazione; il bambino gioca perché si diverte e non perché obbligato.
ConTatTiTu is an interactive game with the aim of rehabilitating and educating children with autistic disorder in order to let them have social interactions. Thanks to the collaboration of the Bio robotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, we had the opportunity become fond to the engineering applied to children toys, in particular the ones with specific disorders, pathologies and difficulties. Our interest is focused on children with autistic spectrum disorder, whose main difficulty concerns their relationships with other people. Our solution is the realization of an educative and enjoyable toy based on a system of interactions through which the child can improve his intersubjective ability. Our belief is that learning is easier and more effective through the play: anyone in front of something that stimulates hid curiosity and catch his attention is encouraged to interact with it; children play because they enjoy their selves and not because they are obliged.
Il modo in cui l’oggetto ci appare
L’aspetto formale e comunicativo del nostro progetto risponde a delle richieste specifiche relative all’organizzazione dell’attività educativa individuate da alcuni studi: lo spazio fisico deve essere identificabile, circoscritto, essenziale, comodo e confortevole. Per questo motivo, abbiamo pensato ad un tappetino chiudibile e trasportabile, che attraverso la chiusura e l'apertura, determini l'inizio e la fine dell'attività di gioco.
The way the object appears to us strongly influences both its function and its content.
The shape and the communicative aspect of our project answer to specific requests about the organization of the educational activity which some studies have individuated: the physical space have to be identifiable, finite, essential and comfortable. For this reason, we thought about a closable and transportable carpet, through which the closing and the opening, could determinate the start and the end of the play activity.
Il nome ConTatTiTu contiene un doppio significato: da una parte, "contatti – tu" richiama l'azione che il bambino compie nelle varie tipologie di gioco, dall'altra Tat Ti e Tu sono i personaggi protagonisti delle tre versioni del gioco, quindi, in questo caso, il nome "con – Tat – Ti – Tu" significa insieme a Tat – Ti – Tu. Il gioco è composto da un tappetino, un pupazzo e un libro con i quali il bambino ha la possibilità di interagire in tre diversi modi: da solo con il gioco, con la presenza di un adulto che legge il libro, o interagendo fisicamente con un'altra persona.
The name ConTatTiTu has a double meaning: on one side, contatti- tu “contact-you” recalls the action that the child do in different game typologies; on the other side Tat Ti Tu are the main characters of the three version of the toy, so in this second case the name “con – Tat – Ti – Tu” means with (together) Tat – Ti – Tu. The game is composed by a little carpet, a puppet and a book with whom the child has the possibility to interact in three different ways: alone with the toy, with the presence of an adult who read the story or interact physically with another person.
Gli alieni hanno delle braccia molto lunghe, per permettere al bambino di utilizzarle con maggiore libertà di movimento. All'estremità ci sono le mani: il mezzo con il quale gli alieni si mettono in contatto tra di loro e col tappetino/stella attraverso tessuti e fili conduttivi. Nel momento in cui i due si toccano le mani in modo corretto, il circuito elettrico (composto da fili e tessuti conduttivi, batteria e led) si chiude e i led si illuminano.
Quando la mano dell'alieno entra in contatto con il patch di tessuto conduttivo corrispondente ad una delle fasi giornaliere, i fili conduttivi trasmettono il segnale alla scheda elettronica interna al tappeto che, collegata tramite USB al computer che gestisce attraverso un programma il segnale acquisito, elabora una traccia audio specifica della zona toccata riprodotta da uno speaker collocato all’interno della stella.
The Aliens have long arms, to permit a freedom of movement when children use it. At the ends there are the hands: the mean through which the aliens contacts each other and with the star carpet through conductive wires and textiles. When they touch their hands correctly, the electric circuit, composed by wears and textiles, closes and the led shines. When the alien hand comes in contact with the conductive textile patches correspondent to one of the daily phases, the conductive warms transmit the signal to the electric board inside the carpet which, linked though usb to the computer which control the signal through a program, elaborate a specific audio track of the touched zone, reproduced by a speaker collocated inside the star.
