For this project, I liked doing the original design sheets for my robots. I had a lot of fun imagining what other worlds they could have existed in. I also liked it because I drew the designs on seemi- transparent paper so I could see behind the designs, which I think was a cool effect that I don’t see often.
I also liked doing the animations of the robots, it really helped to bring my characters to life and makes them feel more realistic to me. I had a lot of ideas for small animations and ways I could make the robots move around and interact with each other and the surroundings. I especially liked animating them onto pictures of real life that I took, their cartoony look makes them really stand out even if they’re just small sketches of the bots.
I didn’t really like the font I made for my robot. I enjoyed the process of designing it and I think it fits the clean, simple look that I was going for, but I personally don’t like the final outcome, I think its boring. When I was doing the habitats for my robots I found that I enjoyed painting the first one (the storefront( but I didn’t like making the other two. I think this was because I ran out of ideas and struggled to think of new ones that made any sense, I need to try and get better of thinking of new ideas on the fly in the future so I don’t have to deal with problems like that.
I want to do more collage and incorporate more colours in my future artwork, while also taking a lot more inspiration from Jean Michel Basquiat’s work. I want to take more inspiration from his work because to me it feels very free and non restrictive, unlike a lot of the art that I’ve encountered through the majority of my life. His art feels very chaotic  but stylized which I like, but he is not an illustrator like I hope to be, so rather than incorporating more of his chaotic art style into my own work, I want to incorporate more of the feeling of freedom and his beliefs into my own work, not so much caring about other people’s  opinions and being myself authentically. Rather than bending and adapting to what other people like I will make art that I enjoy and that will attract the right audience for if I get commissioned .
I think I planned my time well for this project because I kept track of what needed to be done each week by making to do lists, which I ticked every task off of as I completed them. It helped me to keep on track with the work and adding stuff to my online journal, the work didn’t pile up so I didn’t feel so stressed by the end of the project, which is makes things much more enjoyable.
If I was to do this project again then I think that I would do more experiments with different medias, materials and techniques so I can get a better understanding for how things inter            act with each other before making whole pieces of art and putting my best effort in, only for the materials to not work well together and make the artwork look worse.
For the next project I want to try and do more techniques such as printing so that I can get out of my comfort zone and learn more about art as a whole and other people’s practices, even if I don’t personally enjoy the practices I feel that its important to have an understanding for them. Having an understanding of different processes and how different medias are used can help you to appreciate and have a deeper understanding of what went into actually making pieces of art and give you more respect for the artist.
Since the start of the course, my own understanding and respect for art has increased a lot, I feel as though my art abilities have grown along side my own understanding. I’m more confident when drawing and am not afraid to make mistakes as much as I used to be, I’ve found myself drawing more in pen these days and very rarely using an eraser on the rare occasions that I actually do draw in pencil
