2C Promos for TNT New Original Series "Legends"

Introducing viewers to its newest original scripted drama, “Legends,” TNT enlisted the help of creative agency 2C for two tension-inducing promos. “Interview” and “Shadow”—both 30-second spots—may take different approaches in teasing TNT’s highly anticipated premiere of “Legends,” but their result is that same edge-of-your-seat suspense that compels viewer tune-in.

“Legends” is based on the award-winning book by master spy novelist Robert Littell. The series stars Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones,” “The Lord of the Rings”) as Martin Odum, a CIA agent with the ability to transform himself into a different person for each job.

Produced by TNT, “Interview” is a shoot-based spot featuring Sean Bean (as Agent Martin Odum) answering an interrogator’s questions. To create this promo, TNT provided 2C with footage comprised of tight and mid-shots directed by TNT Senior Creative Director John Jamilkowski. The 2C team then went to work identifying the most compelling moments and best takes that—when crafted together in such a close range setting—would deliver a truly gripping spot that leaves viewers wondering.

“Shadow,” on the other hand, is a clip-based spot voiced by star Ali Larter. In this promo, the sound design was equally important to the visual editing, as it needed to match the composed, high-quality audio for which TNT spots are already known. As the spot progresses, so does the pacing of the clips, the level of action and the sheer intensity of the sound design for a blockbuster movie style approach.
