Originally designed for the independent music label of the same name, Super Castel is a highly condensed serif family, inspired by science fiction, in particular works such as the Neon Genesis: Evangelion series and the Ghost in the Shell anime. Mechanically condensed serifs are a recurring graphic element in the visual universe of these works.
The Super Castel reinterprets historical models from the Baroque period, such as Rosart or Caslon, but in a condensed version, deliberately playing on the anachronistism.
