TOBY GREGORY
Games Programmer
Intro
My name is Toby and I am studying game design at Harlow college, I specialise in coding but I have dabbled in many other aspects of making a game such as the making a full GDD, concept art and audio development. I have been playing games at a young age and this has given me a great passion in designing and making games. I find a great interest in code as I deeply love maths and have a natural ability to solving problems.
Here is an example of some code I have for a demo for a game. It uses unity's built in features and is done in C#. I can understand the basics of it as I am very proficent in python and which has given me the basics of all high level programing langueages. The code shown above is a very simple character controler which allows the player to move and jump around using the built in unity features.
This is the Game map for the game I was creating for my game which was made to show off what the level concept were in my game and what they were about
This  is one of the ways I generate ideas for games. I prefer mind maps as it allows me to spread my ideas out and develop them. One way I do this is start with a genre and then give it a gimmick which would work with it. This then allows me to make ideas that could work well with the genre and make it easier to think of them instead of having to pluck it from thin air and are not insane.
This is some research into games which allows me to understand how they are made and what I should avoid and what I should be inspired by
these are example of research I've done
This is an example of an animation of a walk cycle i made and i did this allow me to visualise easier how people walk so I could use it for my game
This is an extract from my GDD which explains all my thought processes of what I plan to do with my game and what I need to make it. My aim for my game is to make a game based around Isaac Newton fighting a computer virus and can achieve this by traversing through a pc and fighting the bosses of each of the components of the PC
I also made a prestation to show off my game in a more interesting format. In the presentation I talk about how my game will be sold and who its made for. I also answered the audience questions and used their feedback to improve on my ideas afterward
This link will send you to a google drive with all my work which could not fit here
I had also designed a game in unity to give a very simple idea of what I want my game to feel like and the basic concept of the first level. Unfortunately the enemy AI is very basic for now but I plan to make it interact more with the envoirvment. The greeat things about my game is it has moving platforms and a enjoyable character to control
