[underground] Slanic Salt Mine - Romania 2024

Slanic Prahova - a salt mine deep underground (-208m) still active but opened to visitors since 1970. A place were salt smell is in the air and huge walls are surrounding you giving a sense of enormity. Natural colored salt as it was accumulated during millions of years.
View from entrance, huge space opens in front of you
Water infiltration creates cave-like structures, splendid work of nature
A closer look to salt artifacts created by water. Color is from colorful lights that were changing every few seconds
At the end of visit, one piece of history: Traian, Roman emperor who conquered Dacia (today Romania) after two wars (101, 102). (statue cut in salt)
Facing Traian is our king, Decebal, the last Dacian king. (statue cut in salt)
