Located on a hill in Chodzież, surrounded by forests and nearby breeding ponds, the hunting lodge was built in 1893-1895 by Baron Ernst von Lüttwitz.
In the 1950s, the palace housed the State Children's Home, which was transformed into an emergency care facility in the 1980s, which operated there until 2001, whenThe County Board decided to put the facility up for sale.
According to the then management, this four-story building was too large for the needs of the emergency care center, which housed about thirty children at that time. The children were moved to a newly established care and education facility in Studzieniec near Chodzież.
Ultimately, the palace was bought in 2001 by ichthyologist and sturgeon breeder Eugeniusz Bogdan, who wanted to create a fishing center nearby.
In 2009, 83-year-old Baroness Elly Luttwitz-Heinrich, former owner of the Karczewnik Palace in Chodzież, came to Chodzież and remembers what she saw fondly, especially since the building had undergone a thorough renovation.
Currently, the facility is in private hands, of course you can see it up close without any interference from the owner.
