After working at a previous job, I became immensely interested in sports design and all the details that go into the creation of stimulating special effects that complement layouts with strong visual hierarchies. For recreation I created all of the following sports graphics. I found it very beneficial to experiment and try my hand at (hypothetical) professional sports design.

Visual Effects for the Background
Stimulating visual effects with light, color, texture, shapes, blur, focus and background smoke grant higher dimensionality to the subjects. Aside from dimensionality, these visual effects also provide the subject with a myriad of aesthetics, such as, mystery, power and otherworldliness (to name a few). I applied all of these effects to my designs.

Visual Effects for the Subject
The naturalistic and expressive nature of candid sports imagery in advertising has always fascinated me. In my opinion iconic athletes (as figures) are often displayed in advertisements in a manner that mimics Hellenistic and Classical sculptures. The astounding athletic abilities of our sports heroes deems them to a saintly status from the public's perspective. For most professional athletic advertisements candid photography is edited in such a way that focuses on smoothness of the skin with increased sharpness of texture and contrast that accentuates the figure's their muscles and veins. This editing style gives their bodies an appearance almost like that of a chiseled marble sculpture.

Layout
For placement of the subjects, I generally try to place singular subjects in the center of the picture plane. The central placement makes them look more regal. When I have multiple subjects, I overlap the subjects and vary them in scale to create visual movement and hierarchy.
