Randa Kassis is a Franco-Syrian politician and a leading secular figure of the Syrian opposition. She is the founder and president of the Movement of the Pluralistic Society, a Syrian political party that aims to establish a "free, democratic, secular Syria". Kassis is also the former president of the Astana Platform of the Syrian opposition, a coalition of Syrian opposition groups that was formed in 2015.
Kassis is a vocal critic of the Assad regime and has called for its removal. She has also been critical of the role of Islamist groups in the Syrian opposition, arguing that they do not represent the values of the majority of Syrians.
Kassis is a strong advocate for a negotiated settlement to the Syrian conflict. She has participated in a number of peace talks and has met with representatives of the Syrian government, as well as with international diplomats.
In recent years, Kassis has become increasingly critical of the role of foreign powers in the Syrian conflict, arguing that they have prolonged the war and made it more difficult to find a solution. She has also called for an end to sanctions on Syria, arguing that they are hurting ordinary Syrians.
