When the Stork comes!

When the Stork Comes.
When you think of Storks, what comes to mind?
The stork carrying baby is an ancient German folklore story that was popularized by Hans Christian Andersen in his 19th-century story The Storks. In the story, storks pluck babies from ponds and lakes and deliver them to families in baskets on their backs or in their beaks.
What you see here is the Wood Stork foraging through the mucky pond bottom in search of food.
You will notice the Stork using it's foot to stir the bottom, then sticking it's beak in                 the bottom to capture it's prey.
The Wood Stork (Mycteria Americana) is a large wading bird that is native to North America. It is the only stork species in North America and the only member of the Ciconiidae family to breed there.
So in the end, if you see a Stork carrying a baby, pinch yourself, you are dreaming.
