The Mandala has never
just been an illustration,
it always has been
an excercise as well:
a practice of reflection
& appeasement.
A simple webcam equipped with the right software can capture moods, tensions and expressions in a human face and transform them visually. This way, the facial traits are  translated into graphic
symmetrical patterns.

The face becomes the Mandala.

We developed an audiovisual massage with the aim to destress tensions and resentments within only
two minutes by the interplay of the animated forms of the mandala.
The emotional state expressed in the face of the observer is replicated in the mandala. This original state pictured in the mandala is being modyfied slowly by flowing animations, changing colours and ambianced music. We got inspired by the colour scheme of the one artist who created the „Mandala of Modernity“. We allocated „mood-values“ to his colour scheme and distinguished between 4 basic moods:
sadness, joy, fear and anger.
The software captures the mood, the tension and the expression of the users face
