Project 01: Donut Combinations
For this introductory project, our class was instructed to visually represent a simple, useful object of my choice through the lens of each of the Six Creative Strategies. Through this exercise I was able to familiarize myself with the framework for developing creative design solutions to express meaningful ideas.

The main tool I used was Photoshop and the images were accessed through unsplash.com and pixabay.com.

The images below display the principles of combination, isolation, metaphor/simile, change of context/environment, physical shape similarity, and lastly material change/swap/focus.
This image combines a ring box and a "donut" ring. If I wasn't happily married for 20 years I would say this is the only ring you need.
This image invited the viewer to focus on the frosted donut, despite that it is the only one. This frosted donut implies that the viewer be themself which can add frosting to the world around them.
This image is a visual representation of the metaphor making a comparison between two non-similar things (salad - healthy eating and a donut - not healthy eating).
This image communicates the idea that donuts are light and airy, just like balloons are light and airy.
This image utilizes the strategy to showcase the connection between the "O's" and donuts. Switching them allowed for a playful take on a tic-tac-toe game that is perfect for Valentine's Day.
This image swaps out the inner clock piece in this alarm clock that the viewer would be accustom to and replaced it with a donut. This would make for a sweet morning for sure!
