The Buraq is a horse-like creature from the heavens that transported the Islamic prophets. The Buraq transported the prophet Mohammed from Mecca to Jerusalem and back during the “Night Journey”. The fact that the equine played such an important role in the Quran shows the importance of the horse-men relationship as Mohammed had conveyed to his followers.

The first interaction between men and horse was confrontational. Men didn’t see a functional animal that could be domesticated, instead a meal or skin for protection.
