'I Am The Law' for Hero Complex Gallery

Hero Complex Gallery's latest show 'I Am The Law' pays artistic tribute to all that is to do with cops, criminals, authority figures, buddy cop films, cons, prison films, gangsters, heists, gangs, westerns, spies, murder, whodunits, private eys and so much more. For my offering I chose to represent the BBC One TV Series 'Sherlock' because of the way the character conducts himself, with an intelligent cockiness that defines his personality. He is the smartest person in the room and is never afraid to let others know this. Benedict Cumberbatch owns the role of Sherlock and in my opinion is a law unto himself, and yet would not be who he is without Martin Freeman's Dr John Watson and his other friends. They are what drives him and keeps his boundaries in play.

How many times does it take to get the right 'Sherlock'? This many times!
In order to continue the contemporary feel of the show into my poster, I decided to manually draw out the lettering instead of relying on the show's current logo or another font. The show also features scenes of graffiti and gritiness, both of which I tried to tie into my lettering.
