Hattie Carnegie was a fashion entrepreneur based in New York from the 1920s to the 1950s. She began her journey by making his but was soon known for her high class and elegance in jewellery. 
 In her clothing line she practiced getting designs from Paris, the fashion capital of the time. She would buy the designs, take them to the US and alter or adapt them. In her boutique either a Chanel could be bought or Hattie Carnegie’s interpretation of Chanel’s work. 
 She began her first ready-to-wear line in the early 1930’s. As much as her business wasn’t affected much by the crash her customers were, therefore the decision to create a cheaper clothing line. These were carefully crafted and she paid attention to detail.
