Impressions of Leiden in the Netherlands
Leiden is a city in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is known for its centuries-old architecture and Leiden University, which was founded in 1575, making it the oldest university in the country. In the art museum Museum de Lakenhal you can see works by the Dutch masters, including Rembrandt, a native of Leiden. One feature of suffering is immediately recognizable wherever you are: the water. After Amsterdam, most of the water flows in the city. Due to its location on the edge of the Dutch polders and lakes, various sailing routes are available for pleasure and tours through the city and the surrounding area.
