This is a high #2 on my list of favorite assignments. Similar to the t-shirt design assignment I exhibited here, this assignment gave a set of geometric shapes on grid paper, with the challenge of creating an animal in different poly levels.
This assignment proved to be time consuming because of similar circumstances to the t-shirt design, and was addressed the same way (these were due in the same week.) On top of that, on the day that I had set aside to finish up this project, there ended up being a family emergency out of town that required my attention, so it ended up being a stressful ordeal that took even more time to complete this project. I ended the night with a finished project, however I began to experience the Tetris effect because of this project because even while I was directing my attention to other matters, I found myself considering what I needed to do to finish the assignment. My mantra for the day ended up being “All I know is Frog.” It’s eventually become an inside joke in my family. Given that I am unable to control family emergencies, the one thing I can manage is time management and trying to set a routine so that everything is handled in equal increments, so if anything does happen, it isn’t so overwhelming to catch up.
