From this point the complex eyeball evolved, a system so complex, sensitive and efficient, that it has been adopted by practically all existing species of animals... In all its variants, there are millions of specialized formats for different environments and demands...

Studying some of these examples I ended up creating geometric derivations, some more organic, others fractal... All of them inspired by this fascinating part of the eyeball.The Íris ends up being unique to each of us, in its color, texture and pattern... And that’s what seduced me to model each of these variants and then later develop parametric 
abstractions of each of them.

Digital sculpture, printed in a single piece in biodegradable and recyclable PLA

This is a research project on sculpture and promoting the inclusion of people with visual impairments as consumers of art. At the moment Íris project is on display in one of the rooms of @MU.SA - Museu das Artes de Sintra and it will be there until mid-February 2024.
