Svampljus is a reading lamp, combining simplicity and functionality. Its minimal design includes an opaque upper half to keep light low and prevent glare creating a tranquil atmosphere and easier reading experience.

The Brief
The goal was to design a working reading lamp using a small strip of LEDS and do so using at least 4 different prototyping techniques for example 3D printing, Laser cutting etc.
I chose to create a modern and simplistic design that could be assembled with minimal adhesive allowing for easier assembly
↳ To accompany the lamp I decided to make the addition of a simple assembly guide.
Svampljus includes a concise assembly guide, drawing inspiration from the iconic design of a familiar Swedish brand.
Thanks to its neat disassembly feature, the lamp occupies minimal space during packaging. This design not only facilitates easy component replacement but also invites the customisation of the lamp with your own unique parts.
Prototyping & Making
The lamp was crafted using a variety of manufacturing methods, including FDM and SLA 3D printing, laser cutting, soldering, as well as more routine processes such as sanding and finishing.
While aiming to minimise waste, challenges arose during the prototyping process, including issues related to fitment, 3D printing errors, and the testing of finishes and light-blocking capabilities of certain materials.

The final design not only enables comfortable low-light reading without glare but also seamlessly integrates into
the home. Its simple design elegantly showcases the materials used.
