Why the jury picked Yanru: Yanru is ready for adventure! Therefore, she would prefer to spend $100 on one scuba dive than on something materialistic. Since she is a photojournalist, she travels extensively and loves it. And it’s especially important for her to find out about cultures and people of foreign lands first-hand. Q: What are three things you can't live without while traveling?
A: My smartphone, so I can stay connected with people. My camera, to capture every moment of my life. My credit card because I can use it practically anywhere in the world.
Q: What technical innovation still needs to be invented in your opinion?
A: I think a virtual dressing room should finally be invented. Since nowadays the Internet is like a second home for most young people, they prefer to shop online instead going all the way to a shop. Up to now, it’s been so annoying how often you get the wrong size or the actual designs of clothes turn out so different when shopping online.
