The Griffins were a princely dynasty of Slavic origin that emerged in the early Middle Ages and ruled for over 500 years over the lands on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea, called the Duchy of Pomerania. It covered the areas on both sides of the Oder, from Bardo (today Barth in Germany) in the west to Lębork in the east.
