In an effort to reflect the publishing world, FAB Magazine chose to "work ahead" for the next season with this particular issue of the publication. In other words, we worked on the spring/summer issue the fall semester before it was to come out. This issue also marks FAB's venture into working with businesses in Menomonie, WI. We conducted a model workshop (also a new first for FAB) at The Raw Deal Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurant, had a photoshoot at/with Leissa's Hair Studio & Day Spa, and, of course, we had West Wind Graphics print our magazine for the second time in a row.

 

Design-wise, the spring/summer layout was entirely my brain child - aka I worked solo on it for a few months after I graduated. Yes, I am so involved with FAB that I even partake when I'm not even at school anymore. But before people judge me on the amount of time it took (especially time out of my post-grad life), not only was I designing the layout, I was also contacting people to receive more information from them, working with Leissa's to legitimately design the advertisements scattered throughout the magazine (working on a design job with a customer being a personal first), and utilizing numerous other ways to give the magazine more oomph. Also, because I was no longer on campus, it was difficult getting a hold of other FAB members to discuss the magazine. A few setbacks, but it did get finished. I worked with what I had (which wasn't much and wasn't exactly high quality), and did my best to jazz it up a bit.

 

Despite any difficulties on my part while I was working on it, this issue of FAB Magazine was our most successful to date (as of Summer 2014), even receiving comments such as "the best one yet."
