Korey Nickson, Flower Boy
ARTIST STAMENT
Korey Nickson is a graphic designer from Garner, NC. Growing up in a sport dominated household he always felt disconnected from his family, but it was his love for art that allowed him to escape from reality. Dealing with an Alpha male father Nickson always had to censor his feminine urges to still feel accepted by his family.
Now a senior in college, Nickson is pursuing a bachelor’s in computer graphics. He is now turning his escape from reality into real life. Over the duration of four years Nickson has honed the skills of a talented graphic designer with a lot of potential that is not only recognized by the art department but is acknowledged throughout the entire university where Nickson has landed a role working for the Powerhouse of Red and White (Winston Salem State university cheer team) taking the skills he learned in class and applying them to real life.
When he became a college student Nickson got to experience newfound freedom allowing him to truly be himself and explore his feminine desires, but it was with this freedom that made Mr. Nickson realize that everyone has a masculine and feminine side to them. This really pushed him to create works of art that have no boundary, gender, or label allowing his audience to see both feminine and masculine sides of his creations.
