As Australia's leading clean energy generator, largest producer of renewable energy and largest water manager, Hydro Group are an esteemed brand with a highly skilled team that required a space that allows them to flourish their collaboration skills and working culture. Momentum Energy and Hydro Tasmania consolidated their office space into one floor on 530 Collins St and have taken the opportunity to develop a new working style utilising aspects and principles of Activity Based Working.

Amicus facilitated eight 'Co-Design Workshops' with the Hydro project team which included 20 people across their organisation. This allowed Amicus to have a clear and in-depth understanding of how the Hydro Tasmania team worked and how their working culture defines their success. From here, a throughly informed design was developed that focused on how Hydro Tasmania organised their people through a 'shared neighbourhood concept'. This concept emphasised the transitory experience between different working environments, allowing the staff hub and reception area to be shared as the main congregating area. This area is positioned strategically straight off the main lift lobby so staff can access the space at the start of the day.

The resulting space employs a catered and unique strategy to utilise Activity Based Working principles and increasing inspiration and productivity in Hydro Group's team. This has been a catalyst for a shift in working culture and has brought out potential and productivity in the team. The unique experiences of each crafted space creates invaluable moments of collaboration that leads to a deeper sense of belonging, curiosity and pride in the workspace.

The fitout further encompasses state-of-the-art technology implementation, seamlessly integrated into each space with intuitive consideration of user experience and practicality. This project was awarded a 5 start - Green Star - certified rating, representing
‘Australian Excellence’ in environmentally sustainable building practices. This achievement showcases leadership in sustainability, creates brand value and encourages innovation. Further to this, the build was also awarded Gold in the 2020 Melbourne Design Awards, attaining to the excellence of the Amicus' Delivery team and design partner, Hot Black's design aptitude.
