Photo Diary
January 9- January 15, 2024
This week’s Photo Diary Project has challenged me to picture my everyday life in a compositional way. Whenever I was out and about, whether I was taking my dog for a walk, at the gym or eating, I would think of how I could capture the moment.
This year, one of my goals is to make more time for myself- for my well-being. I have challenged myself to read one book per week, to do some form of exercise every day, to fuel my body with some nutritious foods & to spend time with the people I love. This project has allowed me to capture exactly that.
One of my favourite ways to move my body, is to walk my Golden Retriever, Bentley. In the picture “my forever friend” I see a few compositional elements such as the golden mean, leading lines & depth of field.
“Mini-Me”- In this picture, I have captured the compositional element of depth of field. You can see my little cousin, enjoying er well-deserved Starbucks during a girls day.
“Properly Fueling my body”- In this photograph I captured rule of thirds. A big part of properly fueling my body is I am also challenging myself to try new recipes. This is a oatmeal, banana recipe to which I added some strawberries and banana.
“Keeping a positive mind”- In this photograph, I capture depth of field, having the cup/ straw in focus & having the background blurred.
“Clearing my mind”- I captured this photograph while walking the track here at Algonquin college. In this image, you can find the compositional element of leading lines.
“Challenging myself”- This picture was taking between 2 of my classes when I took the time to sit down and read my book to change my mindset and to achieve my goal of reading a book per week. I this picture you can see depth of field, where the book is in focus compared to the lounge area in the E building.
“Pushing my limits”- In this photograph, I have captured the golden mean & depth of field having the rest of the gym (background) be blurred. I find the gym a good way to move your body, to push yourself and to change your mind set.
I truly enjoyed having to take a picture every day and will incorporate it in my daily routine, as I believe it has improved my creativity.
See you soon,
Lauryn
