Vox - Animation and web campaign

PROJECT

Vox needed an animation to better communicate their subsidy called Basiskompetanse i arbeidslivet (BKA). The goal of the project was to make businesses more aware of the subsidy, how they can benefit from it and the positive effect it has on both company and employee. In addition to the animation, Vox also wanted campaign material for distribution on social networks, emails and the web.

ABOUT VOX

Vox is the Norwegian Agency for Lifelong Learning and belongs to the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. Vox promotes access and participation in formal, non-formal and informal adult education through research, basic skills, integration, career guidance, programmes and subsidies.
PROCESS
CONCEPT

After an inital meeting with Vox we gathered a few great minds and started brainstorming based on collected information, ideas, statistics and goals. A great way of doing this is by just putting it all up on the wall. You get a good overview of your ideas and it's easy to add and remove stuff as you progress.

STORY

The next step was to concretize the concept into a first draft of the story. We did some low-fi sketches and arranged them as a timeline on the wall (yes, we like walls). Then arranged a workshop with Vox where we did a walk-trough of our ideas. With awesome feedback and involvement from the client we could polish and refine the story even further.
PRODUCTION

Here's where the fun begins. Based on the story, a final script and storyboard were produced. We were aiming for a 2D-paper-cutout-look and to achieve this we built the whole scene in Cinema4D. All graphical elements/textures were crafted in Photoshop. The fine-tuning and 2d animation were made in After Effects. After three weeks of heavy production work, we finally had a video ready for delivery.
DELIVERY

Together with the video we also designed a custom landing page on Vox's website.
The banner was made in the same style as the video and with the main character "Lars" featured. We wanted to bring the playfulness from the video to the web by animating elements with CSS3. By clicking the button, the user could view the video
directly in the banner.
