The scrap Yard in Jalpally, Hyderabad is managed by the religious NGO Safa Bait Ul Maal. They go to door to door in the different regions of the city to collect old furniture, clothes, appliances, plastic and all kinds of scrap. The items are then collected and refurbished to be sold for a very low cost at a store called "Sabse sasta Maal" (The cheapest stuff).
I was attracted to the scrap yard because of the range of things that can be found here. It got me thinking about circular economy and how different scrap yards in cities can be turned into sites for research and redesigning the future.
