The brief challenged me to create a series of images for book covers by hand. After choosing my first book, Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov; The novel is notable for its controversial subject: a 37-to-38-year-old literature professor called Humbert Humbert, is obsessed with the 12-year-old Dolores Haze, I decided to focus on narratives with an element of seduction.

I experimented using chewing gum and stamps, to avoid the obvious use of a lollipop, and found I could create a simple yet strong grid design that looked like a pastel pattern, with the imprints of both the book title and the author embedded in the gum.

With this pattern and my concept in mind I arranged pastel coloured capsules/pills, a barbie doll's limbs and tweezers in the same grid to create my second book cover- Valley Of The Dolls, the cult classic novel by Jacqueline Susann.
