"Black Friday"
60x40x2 cm

Electro waste and epoxy resin in plexiglas.

"Black Friday" is a commentary on the annual festival of consumption that takes place in November, and at the same time an invitation to Agbogbloshie – the world's largest electronic waste dump. Agbogbloshie is located on the outskirts of Accra – the capital of Ghana – and can be compared to a huge desert filled with electro waste from highly developed countries. This is where Europe and the USA export their problems.

The electronic waste used in the artwork comes from an Instagram collection. Shortly after the artist posted it, she received a lot of computer and telephone parts from friends. Most of us have such electro waste at home – nowadays electronics are manufactured according to the principle of planned obsolescence and cannot be repaired.
