LEISURISM
My concept is "LEISURISM," an underappreciated image needed for mechanisms and processes of daily living. Simply described, leisurism is a way of life or social structure that places a strong emphasis on leisure. Irrespective of the circumstance or level of stress, there is a strong conviction in taking enjoyment in life and being relaxed most of the time, if not always. A Leisurist will always find a way to have fun.
Despite this, the monotony of daily life maintains us in a perpetual state of drive and rat-race. My design is to capture the essence of a minute to breathe, settle, and realise. The main focus is reduced down to concentrating on passive leisure activities like communal zones and personal interactive activities or hobbies to develop rather than active leisure because of the semi-private terrace area to be constructed and the notion of Leisurism on the other.
According to a survey, employees at the top of the organisational hierarchy are claimed to have more autonomy at work than the general population and greater independence in managing both their professional and personal lives.
What happens to the lower classes as we descend?
Such individuals have trouble focusing. They are engaged in an ongoing race and drive. This is the reason for and the source of LEISURISM. Every residential building ought to feature a terrace area that captures the essence of a person's deepest emotions as well as a gathering area where people can congregate comfortably.
The Semi-Private Terrace, self-explanatory in terms of the requirements, has three major aspects of Leisurism involved in the design process:
• Mental Leisure
• Restorative Leisure &
• Social Leisure
Mental leisure design elements were for the residents themselves to have a little quality time within and also occasionally with close ones to dedicate time to delight and satisfaction in order to create a better state of mind. Restorative Leisure design elements were designed as activities of Passive Leisure that helps alleviate the effects of a negative factor & constant rebalancing. Finally, the social leisure design elements are specifically designed for enjoying the company of other people.
NARRATIVE
Leisure, an unsung paladin in constant struggle to create a way of life for the prosaic societal structure & its soul-damaged earthlings, us humans. Yes, us Humans are what I am talking about. A society that forgets to rest is what I am talking about & an entire species of existence that dominates the planet & the cycle of existence is what I am talking about. HUMAN BEINGS. HOMO SAPIENS. EARTHLINGS & SOULS OF THE UNIVERSE is what I am talking about.
Be that as it may, there is a strong conviction in a Leisurist, to create tranquility within & relax away from the perpetual state of drive & the rat-race. Leisurism, this project, tries to capture the essence of Social, Mental & Restorative Leisure, that lets us breate, settle & realize the spiritual existence within the self.
This is an Internship Project developed to enhance the Semi-Private Terrace of Mr. Pruthvi Gowda's Residence into a mini hangout & relaxation spot for the couple to bring in family & friends.
