DSBA Pro Bono Program Offer CLE Credit for Attorneys

The Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA) advocates for residents by making high-quality legal assistance and justice accessible through its Access to Justice Pro Bono program. Attorneys who volunteer for the Access to Justice Pro Bono program can earn continuing learning credit (CLE).

The Access to Justice Pro Bono program does not match those needing counsel with attorneys. Instead, it is a resource, a source of information, and assistance to encourage lawyers to perform pro bono work. The program helps attorneys find opportunities that meet specific parameters. Through the projects, programs, and services, the attorneys who volunteer their time meet the legal needs of the state’s underserved communities. Some of the program’s partners include the ACLU and the Office of the Child Advocate.

Attorneys who have performed pro bono work can apply for CLE with the Commission on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of Delaware. Attorneys can complete the work in the state courts or for legal aid organizations. Then, the attorneys earn one hour of CLE credit per six hours of volunteer legal assistance. However, a limit exists - attorneys can earn no more than six credits per each biannual reporting period.
