3D Modeling and Product Photography

An experiment in subtle modeling changes and eyes.
The car is a futuristic concept car by Lexus. This car was composed, texture designed, lit and set in a custom scene by me  (MDT) The modelling of the car was done by someone else.
3D model of a glass filter. One of the many advantages for having one's product as a 3D model means that you can blow up the model many times larger than even the biggest and best cameras. This is ideal for doing large trad show displays etc.
This hour glass was modeled as a metaphor for a health book. The hourglass diagram had a lot of words up and down each side so this glass was modeled by MDT to be a simple as possible so as not to distract from the words or the main message. All the  hourglasses found in stock images were just too busy, distracting and had a lot of support columns that got in the way. In 3D you are able to manipulate the perspective, lighting and shadows giving you exactly what you need for the book layout.
These clip-on glasses are 100 percent modeled in 3D in three different sizes to fit most existing glasses. Photographing these in a conventional photo studio way would be pretty difficult as they would have to lie flat or be held up by wires requiring all kinds of retouching.
This clip-on is the same as the above but with a different background with a ground plane.
These four filters done for an international optics company are done entirely in 3D with labels. They can be used for a single image and easily animated for video.
More 3D filters including the above 4 ring filters but set in a different lighting environment. Again - doing this the photographic way with a camera would be extremely difficult if not impossible - especiallly when it comes to complex animation.
Pushing the limits of textures in 3D to create something different. And matching the lighting to help with the composition.
Another pair of glasses for the same company - modeled completely in 3D so the possibilities are endless in terms of composition, reflections and lighting environments. Reflections can easily become a huge problem when phtographing glass in a bricks and motar photo studio because of the reflections from the lights and the room not to mention the photographer and camera.
Same glasses as above but with different lighting.
An experiment in something different for skin texture, lighting and cropping.
