Hellooooo!
I'm back with another spirit from the agave fields of Oaxaca.
We've seen the rise in Cristalino expressions from various tequila brands but this is the first mezcal version I've seen. Creyente has a mezcal that has been on the shelves for quite a number of years and this is their follow up: Azul. A blend of Espadín and Cuishe agaves.
Creyente translates as beliver, and that I am.
Mezcal's production is still very traditional, with recipes passed down through generations and produced without electricity.
The Creyente logo is a hybrid animal of their own creation consisting of a jaguar, golden eagle, and antelope.
• The full body of this mezcal blend is symbolized by the elusive jaguar.
• The overarching smoky mesquite wood flavor is represented by the Golden Eagle of Mexico.
• Sweet hints of fruit, and light herbal notes are embodied by the nimble legs of the antelope.
