The project was to create a art book for an artist living in Portugal - Faro.
The artist is called Helgard Schiffer, but her work is published under the name Helgard Grönlund, which was the surname of her grandmother, both of them were autodidactive painters.
Helgard Schiffer doesn´t want to be seen as an artist. She takes colors, surfaces, images from her daily environment which she attempts to bring to the canvas. She experiments a lot and tries to deal with new tools such as putty or wood.
The book is designed as a sketchbook, which summarizes all her „experiments“. Only the pictures, headlines, and her biography can be seen. The book is kept simple, to focus on her work.
