Diane Merryweather Character Design

This project was created for my college Character Design class.
After creating the world, the story, the character thesis, and the character sheet, I drew silhouettes to spit out as many design ideas as possible.
The best elements were then taken from each silhouette to create one cohesive silhouette. Then I drew three different designs out of that final silhouette.
The best elements were taken from those three sketches, combined, and the linework finalized into one final lineart. I know that the linework won't be included in the final piece, so it's not necessary to clean up the lines that are still a little sketchy.
Before jumping into color, it is necessary to explore value schemes. In addition to the value study, I experimented with various lighting scenarios.
Choosing a value scheme and a lighting scheme, I finally get to play with color.
I am a bitter, animal-loving witch who appears as a harmless grandmother to care for her half-blood Anthros as she turns all of humanity into animals.
I am a loving, loyal father and husband who was chased off for being a Lycanthrope and now lives as a lumberjack alone in the Haunted Forest.
I am a poor, young Anthro girl who learns to accept herself and show off her beauty through the joy of dancing in spite of powerful prejudice and discouragement.
The process was completed for three characters simultaneously. This project is my first original work created in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. The art style is based on that of Andrey Ivanov.
